Ukranian born photographer and filmmaker Yelena Yemchuk has created the latest spellbinding video from Canadian band Austra, championed on Amelia’s Magazine last year. Feel It Break has since been named New York Magazine‘s album of 2011 – high praise indeed!
The video for new single Spellwork was shot in the forgotten woods around Egberts Lake Park, New Jersey. Yelena Yemchuk has previously worked for the likes of the Smashing Pumpkins and she describes the video as a ‘surreal fairy tale‘. Expect a spooky mashup of influences: succulent fruits, strange men lurking behind masks, vacant teenagers, lacy hair pieces, scattered sunlight, strange sects, black steeds, hysterical dancing, coloured smoke. Why not watch and enjoy?
