Collaborative works in glass by two well known scultors, Deacon and Woodrow. Created over a long period of time without a specific deadline, we are invited into a world of free flowing ideas and processes which promise to outlast any sale by date.

National Theatre, ‘Some Trace of Her‘:20th August-9th September

Ben Whishaw (of filmic ‘Perfume’ fame) stars in ‘Some Trace of Her’, a multi-media piece by controversial director Katie Mitchell. Inspired by Doestroevsky’s 1868 novel, ‘the Idiot’ the play explores a classic tale of boy meets girl who has to save her from her jealous father; albeit Prince Myshkin (Whishaw) suffers from epileptic fils and Nastasya Filippovna (the femme fatale) is abused by her father. 19th century photography, black and white shots, intense close ups, hallucinary images ensure another dimension of feeling is woven into the classic act of performance.

‘Love’ is a concept that has been the subject of hot debate for centuries, continuing to inspire and confuse. Charting love through the centuries; from a modest/religious love to a more modern understanding, this exhbition features an array of artists from Raphael to Tracey Emin.

93 Feet East, ‘Laser fingers presents: ‘do you want fries with that?’:4th September

Do You Want Fries With That?’ is the lovechild of 93 Feet East and design collective Laser Fingers- a chance to showcase and sell the work of exciting new designers and illustrators as well as a celebration of all things delicious and swimming in grease. Set in the heart of Brick Lane along with DJ’s and a bar as a side order- it plans to be even more mouthwatering than a drunken kebab.

Works touch on dreams from the past as well as an inquisitive eye for detail found in objects and landscapes that range from budgies to mountains to polarbears. Bittersweet designs that possess a delicacy, Hannah Waldron is another fresh talent to look out for.

Beverley Knowles Fine Art, In Bed With The Girls’: 6th September-1st Novemeber

Their first show in the bubblegum pink Bevington pink gallery includes 12 years worth of staged portrait photography, self portraiture and performance pieces. Works play with the themes of childhood, performance, Englishness, eroticism and gender. Colourful and playful with a rumbling of darkness ensures childhood naivity is undercut by a dramatic and slightly haunted adult perspective. An exhibition which ensures you’ll leave slightly flustered-One not to miss.


Sunday 7th September
London Fields, Hackney, ‘Bobbin Bicycles’: invite you to an afternoon of fun and frolics, oh lets not forget bicycles!Saddle up and get ready for the first ever Synday Cycle Picnic where a pedal-powered cinema tent will play host to Ray Pascoe’s beautiful vintage cycling films as well as modern shorts. There will also be stalls, games and prizes for the most stylish bikes. Also for one lucky lady there will be the chance to win a Red Bobbin playbike merely for having a cool dress on. So raid your mum’s wardrobe and search that winning number for your chance to win a bike! Let’s just hope it’s sunny.
