Here at Amelia’s, we have a burning desire to make the world a better place. But can artists and journalists change anything? Photojournalist and film maker Phil Maxwell opens up his thirty five year old archive to explore how human rights issues are pursued through the camera lens and to asks this very same question: Can a photojournalist change anything? Introduced and chaired by Maggie Pinhorn, Maxwell addresses this question with images tracing decades of protest including the miner’s strike, poll tax riots and the struggle against racism. The photographers more recent images examining the work of children on a landfill site in Bangladesh concludes the talk. This event will be followed by a Q&A session.
