Stuart Haygarth has made recycling an art form. In a world soiled by its obsession with the new and readily available, this British artist and designer’s work reminds us that insignificant, discarded items can have great beauty. In his first exhibition, Haygarth examines his ongoing relationship with abandoned objects and his fascination with taxonomy through a series of new furniture works, lamps and chandeliers. Finding beauty in the everyday object, the artist's work challenges perceived notions of the precious and beautiful. Who ever knew plastic, glassware, figurines and spectacles had such diaphanous light? The artist manipulates with exceptional skill rich materials and manufactures complex works of art out of banal objects. See for yourself the results at Haunch of Venison this week.
