Music, Theatre & Fashion: The Irrepressibles + Gabby Young & Other Animals
A fashion & music performance at The Barbican
Sat 29th January 2011, 08:00pm
The Barbican, London
January 29 sees a fabulous evening at the Barbican. A pleasure for the eyes and ears, as part of the Barbican’s Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion exhibition and Disruption: A Fashion Performance.
The Irrepressibles are a ten piece 'performance orchestra', that uses pop and streaming vocals as well as classical orchestrations. They also use conceptual sets and artists from dance and avant-garde costume and make up. They are led by Jamie McDermott, an artist and composer - together they make for a vibrant feast. Amelia's Magazine has been a long term fan of The Irrepressibles, and you can read our latest interview with Jamie here.
Later Gabby Young's 'circus swing' sound will be combined with the visual drama of their on stage theatrics. She has a beautiful sound, and is full of theatrical presence. With her folky, jazzy notes it will be a delight to see her songs literally come to life.
Gabby Young & Other Animals debut album, We’re All In This Together is out now on World Connection
