Bob and Roberta Smith: You Should Be In Charge

You Should Be In Charge is the new exhibition from Bob and Roberta Smith – performance, painting and installation that promises to “eschew definition” with a sense of playfulness and politics. Wowsa!

Fri 1st April 2011 – Fri 3rd June 2011

Work Gallery, 10a Acton Street, London WC1X 9NG

There’s a bit of a “gung ho” approach to Bob and Roberta Smith’s work, with a spirit of the protest movements that are again becoming a part of the London landscape.

With ‘You should be in charge’, the Turner-prize nominated artists have turned their attention to the issue of proportional representation in government. True proportionate representation would mean 50% women, 25% black and minority ethnic groups, and 7-8% disabled – a different sight at the Houses of Parliament indeed. The cuts to the arts budgets also get a treatment in the exhibition, where visitors are encouraged to take part in the discussion.

You should be in charge’ runs from 1 April to 3 June at Work Gallery, 10a Acton Street, London WC1X 9NG. Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday 12 – 5.30.
