They swooped, they saw, they conquered. As you may have already clocked, a hearty bunch of folks with a passion for the our planet (and rightly so) have descended upon one of the capital’s finest open spaces, Blackheath, for this year’s bumper edition of London Climate Camp.

To ease their week of fighting the elements and the establishment, there will be a stellar line-up of musical delights every day. Culminating in a campfire singsong each night. The line-up hasn’t actually been announced on the official website, but as HRH Amelia is in the know, we’ve been treated to the Camp secrets. And we’re letting them out the (tent) bag!

Festivities kick off tonight, with local ska outfit, Jakal, doing a turn, along with political hip-hopper, Riz MC of ‘Post 9/11 Blues’ banning notoriety.

The Friday lunchtime set boasts beautiful songsmith, Nathan Ball. Everybody loves a good ol’ Captain of The Rant, who’ll be nudging poetic tales of a socially conscious nature.

The Bank Holiday weekend is launched on Friday night with girl/boy folk rock duo, Bruise and Inner T’s unique anarchism.

Roll up to the Heath on Saturday lunchtime for psychobilly songstress, Ana Silvera, performance poet, Ben Mellor, who was last seen regaling G20 cops with uncomfortable truths and rhyme guru, Dikson.

London’s folk princess, Emmy The Great, has even taken time out of her busy festivalling/gigging schedule to grace the camp with her lilting tunes. Catch her on Saturday night alongside brilliant ska reggae octet, The New Town Kings, and Baltic scandalists, Na Zdrove!

Spend an untypical lazy Sunday afternoon with some resident Climate Camp poets who’ll get you in a stomping mood for the rip-roaring ceilidh band, Green Kite Midnight. This will be gargantuan fun guaranteed!

As most folks won’t be working on Monday, it’s probably worth heading to the camp to catch Monster Redlight, a Canadian hip-hopper with respect and peace close to his heart. He’ll be there and so will Pete the Temp. If you like his name, you’ll love his words.

Monday night is going to go off with a bang as rebellious rockers, Al Baker and the Dole Queue, the irrepressingly charming, 6 Day Riot AND poster boys, Mystery Jets providing the rhythms to jive.

For those that don’t need to return to work, it might be nice to hear some intelligently charming songs from Theo Bard. For those that do, Martha Tilston will be delivering her folksy beauty from 10pm.

The final day of Camp has got to be big! The music on Wednesday will crescendo to the top with The Filthy Dukes providing the electro party tunes.

If you haven’t checked out the campfire yet, Wednesday night would be your last chance. And there’s extra incentive with the knowledge that the nicest man in folk, Sam Lee, will be serving up his traditional airs.
